About Us

Lifelong Medicine is a Direct Primary Care practice that aims to deliver readily accessible, personalized and affordable medical care for families in Metro Detroit throughout their lifespan.

Our Mission:

To simplify the healthcare experience by reclaiming the patient-centered practice of medicine where doctors are true patient allies, ever-present and lifelong.

We seek

To redirect the destructive and far-from-patient-centered-care trends in our traditional healthcare system, which can be attributed to its heavy reliance on insurance for basic (common and typically inexpensive) medical needs. Some of these trends include the lack of transparency in billing, the growing expectation to see more patients in less time and the endless paperwork to justify standard medical care. This translates to greater expense, shorter visits, longer wait times and less quality care.

We believe

That we can provide patients with the majority of their primary care needs in one stop. So, we ditched taking insurance and the overhead that it comes with, and made our interactions and billing completely one on one. While we acknowledge insurance is essential for emergencies and complex major health events, many primary care needs can be met outside of the ER and urgent care, in an outpatient setting with excellent communication - saving space, time and resources for - well, emergencies.

We emphasize preventative care

We strive to offer attentive and personalized medical care to keep our patients healthy and out of the hospital. This includes screening for diseases, optimizing our patients’ health and treating illnesses with the highest standard of care. We know that the daily life grind can be a lot to juggle, placing medical concerns on the back burner. We hope to make taking care of your health simpler and more accessible so that your path to wellness is never delayed.

Meet Dr. Zrull

Mary Zrull, M.D.

Board Certified in Family Medicine

Founder of Lifelong Medicine

Assistant Professor, Foundational Medicine at Oakland University

Dr. Zrull was born and raised in Michigan. She grew up with the fortune of “five” loving moms, having lost her father to cancer at a young age. The courage and strength of her mom and sisters founded her compassion for people, and her desire to nurture this one precious life. She studied Biology at Michigan State University, and attended medical school at Ross University, School of Medicine in Dominica. After spending her clinical years learning at hospitals in Washington D.C., New York, and Chicago, she returned to Michigan where she completed residency at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. Soon after graduating, she worked as an outpatient Family Medicine Physician at McLaren. Although she loved her patients and colleagues, after some time, she could no longer deny the untenable effects of traditional medicine on her personal and professional life. After pivoting directions, in 2025 she formed Lifelong Medicine - a medical office built on nourishing health, family, and life.

Since 2023, she has the wonderful privilege of teaching clinical skills and Point-of-Care Ultrasound at Oakland University’s School of Medicine, where she joyfully guides students in patient communication, physical exam skills, and the technical skills of bedside ultrasound.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Zrull is better known as, “mama,” snack-maker extraordinaire! She is a lifelong hobbyist, YouTube-trained in house projects and haircuts…salon services are free of charge.
